Originally founded in 1972 as the Quebec Nordiques in the WHA, the Colorado Avalanche made Denver their home in 1995. The 'Avs" have won three Stanley Cups in three Stanley Cup Final appearances, being the only team to do so. All three of the Cups have been won after the team relocated (as of 2023).
